Hi!

I’m Alison. I make quilts, primarily from second-use materials and I design repeating surface patterns. I live in Oakland, California with my family.

I love making all kinds of art—paintings, quilts, poems, collage—but I’m mostly preoccupied now with cloth. I am perpetually figuring out and inviting how the things I do work together and apart and how I am to wrangle them in Time. I create and make work of any kind to repair and strengthen my relationship to this life. And as my kids are becoming more independent, I am back in school studying color dynamics and art history and botanical drawing. I started teaching mini-quilt workshops locally this year and am looking forward to offering some online classes soon.
